Linux Mint, a distribution based on Ubuntu, was first launched in 2006 by Clément Lefebvre, a computer scientist living in Ireland from France. Originally a maintainer of a Linux site dedicated to providing help, tips and documentation to new Linux users, the author saw the potential in the development of a Linux distribution that would take into account the many disabilities of use generally present in the more technical and known products. After asking for feedback from visitors to his site, he set about creating those who many now call “Improved Ubuntu” or “Ubuntu done right” (Ubuntu done right).
